Our Abbey Quarter Tours will be back from Saturday 19 March for a new season!


Enjoy a walking tour exploring the heart of medieval Reading led by our trained volunteer guides. This tour takes you to the highlights of the Abbey Quarter, including the Hospitium where medieval pilgrims stayed, the impressive conserved Reading Abbey ruins and the Abbey Gateway, the grand entrance to the Abbot’s Lodgings which became Queen Elizabeth I’s royal residence.

Have some myths busted and explore the fascinating history of Reading Abbey Quarter, including exciting links to the influence of the Huntley and Palmers Factory celebrating its 200th anniversary this year.
