Discover the hidden stories behind some of the region’s Indian-inspired 19th century architecture, including The Maharajah’s Well, Jaipur Gate, Shah Jahan Mosque, Chattri Memorial and Brighton Pavilion with Dr Graeme Whitehall FRPS FRGS, Trustee of The Maharajah’s Well Trust, including a tour of Arts Asia’s In India’s Image displays.

An intimate evening of ghazals with Mehboob Nadeem (vocals), Jasdeep Singh (dilruba) and Dheeraj Sahai-Mishra (tabla). The Museum space will be transformed into the 19th century court of the Maharajah of Benares. Join us for a baithak, where Mehboob Nadeem and musicians will revisit the works of Ghalib, Zafar and others. Floor and chair seating for courtiers - bring along your own cushion! And don’t forget to visit Arts Asia: In India’s Image in the Welcome Gallery.

1½-hour tour starting at 11am, meet in the Story of Reading Gallery
Abbey days are here again! Enjoy a walking tour exploring the heart of medieval Reading led by our trained volunteer guides. This tour takes you to the highlights of the Abbey Quarter, including the Hospitium where medieval pilgrims stayed, the impressive conserved Reading Abbey ruins and ends in a unique visit inside the Abbey Gateway, the grand entrance to the Abbot’s Lodgings which became Queen Elizabeth I’s royal residence. Please note that the Gateway has no step free access and there are uneven steps and floors.
